Tax Incentives for: Washington
Washington Stateoffers an often overlooked $3.5M grant program, with recent changes that allowfor a larger variety of productions to take advantage of the program.
- Funding assistance is availablefor commercials in rural Washington, feature films, and episodic series in thestate.
- Minimum in-state spendingthresholds:
● $500,000 for Motion Pictures.
● $300,000 per episode forEpisodic Series.
● $150,000 for Commercials. - Motion pictures and episodicseries (less than six episodes): Up to 30% for qualified in-state expenditures.
- Episodic series (six or moreepisodes): Up to 35% for qualified in-state expenditures.
- Commercials (rural filmingonly): Up to 40% for qualified in-state expenditures.
- Additional 10% on qualifiedin-state expenditures for projects filming in a rural county and/or telling thestory of a historically underrepresented community.
- 30% base credit for in-stateexpenditures and resident wages.
- 15% credit for non-residentbelow-the-line employees.
- Above-the-line non-residentemployees do not qualify.
- 5% bonus for producing aminimum of six episodes of a TV series in-state.
- Reality shows qualify on acase-by-case basis, determined by the percentage of resident employees.
